Flow Cell Accessories and Spare Parts

The following accessories are compatible with all BST flow cells and support reliable, contamination-free flow cell operation.

Bubble Traps (FC 33 and FC 34)

Bubble traps are installed in the influent supply line upstream of the flow cell to collect and remove gas bubbles before they enter the flow channel. Even small bubbles passing through a flow cell during imaging can disrupt biofilm, introduce imaging artifacts, and cause inconsistent flow conditions. The FC 33 is a single-channel bubble trap for use with single-channel flow cells or individual channels of a multi-channel setup. The FC 34 is a 4-channel bubble trap for use with the 4-channel capillary flow cells (FC 91, FC 93) or other multi-channel configurations.

Glass Flow Break (FB 50)

The glass flow break is spliced into the media supply line between the carboy and the flow cell to prevent back-contamination from the flow cell into the media reservoir. It is autoclavable and is sized for size 16 (3mm ID) tubing. A glass flow break is included standard with CDC Biofilm Reactors and Rotating Disk Biofilm Reactors and is recommended for all continuous-flow setups.
