BioSurface Technologies at the 2026 Montana Biofilm Science & Technology Meeting

BioSurface Technologies will be on-site at the Montana Biofilm Science & Technology Meeting (MBM), July 15-17, 2026 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bozeman. VP of Operations Stephen Pedersen will be running a booth at the conference location throughout the event. Stop by between sessions to see products in person, ask questions, and talk through whatever biofilm research challenges you're working on.

About the Meeting

The MBM is an annual biofilm science and technology conference hosted by the Center for Biofilm Engineering (CBE) at Montana State University in Bozeman. It brings together academic researchers, industry scientists, and regulatory professionals for three days of focused sessions, networking, and CBE laboratory tours. The meeting has a long track record of covering both fundamental biofilm science and applied topics relevant to industry, making it one of the more practically useful biofilm conferences on the calendar.

This year's program runs July 15-17 and includes six sessions covering a broad range of biofilm research areas.

2026 Session Topics

Session 1: Challenging Assumptions, Discovering Opportunity: Opening session covering AI and machine learning in biology, species identification, and a big-picture look at biofilm infection research from Phil Stewart.

Session 2: Biofilms & Food Safety: Multispecies biofilms in food and environmental contexts, Listeria tolerance to sanitizers in food-processing environments, and surface-attached bacteria as a barrier to EU-market access.

Session 3: Medical Biofilms: Single-cell heterogeneity, anaerobic biofilm physiology, microcalorimetry perspectives on P. aeruginosa and S. aureus, and a new in vitro CF biofilm model with implications for antibiotic evasion.

Session 4: Built Environment & Engineered Systems: Legionella in premise plumbing, magnetic nanoparticles for biofilm removal, living building materials, and bioprinting applications.

Session 5: CDC & FDA Unpacked for Industry: Biofilms and public health from the CDC's Biofilm and Microbial Control Lab, plus an FDA regulatory update from BD Medical.

Session 6: Emerging Technologies in Biofilm Research: Dry surface biofilm models for disinfectant challenge, phage dynamics, single-cell RNA sequencing in P. aeruginosa biofilms, and population growth dynamics in 3D printed synthetic biofilms.

Come Find Us

VP of Operations Stephen Pedersen will be available throughout the conference at the BST booth in the Hilton Garden Inn. Whether you have questions about a specific reactor or flow cell, want to talk through a research application, or just want to see what we've been working on, come say hello.

If you're not making it to Bozeman this year, the MBM is well worth putting on your radar for 2027. More information on the Center for Biofilm Engineering and future meeting announcements can be found at biofilm.montana.edu.
